SAN Parks Recognises SA AIA Membership for SAN Parks Travel Trade Registration
The South African Adventure Industry Association (SA AIA) is pleased to announce that SAN Parks now recognises SA AIA Membership as valid proof of association with a recognised South African tourism body for the purpose of applying for the SAN Parks Travel Trade Agreement.
This applies to SA AIA members who meet the required legal and business compliance criteria to operate in the tourism industry.
What This Means for Eligible SA AIA Members.
SAN Parks offers:
• Rack Rates – the standard public rates
• Standard Tour Operator (STO) Rates – reduced tariffs available to registered businesses. The difference between these rates is commonly referred to as commission.
Registered businesses pay the STO tariff at the time of booking and may structure their pricing accordingly.
Commission applies to accommodation bookings only and is based on previous annual turnover at SAN Parks as well as the commission rate applicable to each park or camp.
Important Clarification
SA AIA membership does not replace or override legal business or guide registration requirements.
Applicants must still:
• Meet all applicable legal registration requirements
• Comply with tourism and business regulations
• Enter into a formal annual STO agreement directly with SAN Parks
SA AIA membership serves as recognised proof of association with a professional tourism body where such recognition is required.
How to Apply
Members wishing to enter into an STO agreement with SAN Parks should contact: TravelTrade@sanparks.org; TravelTradeCapeTown@sanparks.org
SAN Parks will provide the necessary documentation and agreement once eligibility requirements are confirmed.
International Market Access
Several international tour marketing platforms require operators to be associated with a recognised South African tourism body. SA AIA membership is now accepted for this purpose, assisting adventure operators in accessing global markets while providing assurance to international clients.
Strengthening the Adventure Sector
This recognition reflects the growing credibility of SA AIA as the professional body representing the adventure tourism, outdoor education and adventure-based learning sectors in South Africa.
