SA AIA Operating Adventure Motorcycles in Off-road Conditions – Courses Curriculum (Revision 1)

 

This document sets out the official SA AIA curriculum framework for training learners to operate adventure motorcycles in off-road conditions, forming part of the SA AIA Technical Competency Framework.

 

It provides Skills Development Partners (instructional designers, developers, facilitators and assessors) with the structure and guidance needed to deliver consistent, industry-aligned training, including course purpose, target groups, prerequisites, durations, learning outcomes, delivery guidance, assessment approach and course evaluation requirements.

 

What’s included:

  • A structured three-level training pathwayIntroduction, Basic, and Advanced adventure motorcycle riding in off-road conditions
  • Minimum recommended course durations: 6 hours (Intro), 6 hours (Basic), 10 hours (Advanced)
  • Learning outcomes and content guidance covering key areas such as: riding gear, understanding the motorcycle and preparation, off-road riding skills, environmental considerations, and emergency repair/recovery principles
  • Assessment guidance (formative and summative), including certification notes and evaluation requirements
